It is prime strawberry season here in Tennessee and I have been enjoying it immensely. We got some strawberries from a lovely little patch in a small town near our home. We went a little crazy and picked a whole flat of strawberries. They are so sweet that they can be eaten without any sugar needed. However, two people can not eat that many strawberries before they start to go bad so I have been baking and canning strawberries up a storm. I made 6 pints of strawberry freezer jam, 3 pints of strawberry syrup, strawberry cinnamon rolls, and a strawberry and chocolate chip cake (recipes will be at the end). I didn’t leave my fur babies out of the strawberry fest either, I made them peanut butter and strawberry popsicles, and some strawberry banana dog biscuits.
My first foray into strawberry freezer jam did not go as planned. The first batch turned out very sugary, and not very jelly like. The second batch turned out amazing though. I believe I did not let the Sure Jell boil long enough in the first batch. Strawberry freezer jam is an easy recipe that makes your family believe you are a culinary genius. If strawberry freezer jam is easy, strawberry sauce is easier. You just combine your ingredients in a sauce pan and let them simmer for a bit, and then blend it all up. The sauce is a great consistency and is sweet, but not that tooth achingly sweet that most sauces are. We use it for pancakes (pairs perfectly with chocolate chip pancakes), ice cream, and yogurt. It goes well with many different things. It is also great as a gift, it has impressed everyone I gave a jar to. In fact, I have been asked to make many more. I made the strawberry chocolate chip cake for a cake auction at our church and boy, was it a hit. It didn’t even make it home with the couple that bought it. It is oh so moist and light. It is not heavy and rich like most cakes, but has that light hint of sweetness combined with the juiciness of the strawberries and the creamy smoothness of the chocolate chips. In short, it is the perfect summer cake. It makes me think of teas with southern belles in a by gone time.
I have to devote a whole paragraph to the cinnamon rolls. They were one of the best things I have ever tasted. An explosion of flavor that you have to experience for yourself. They were easy to make and you could probably substitute any fruit you want and have them turn out great. They are so good, and you guessed it, easy to make. These were a big hit with my husband and he has requested that I make them often. They are so sweet and full of that wonderful strawberry flavor.
I was on pinterest looking up strawberry recipes when I came across this link: http://doggydessertchef.com/2010/05/18/strawberry-banana-smoothie-biscuits/. It made me wonder if strawberries really are safe for pets so I did some research and according to www.naturipefarms.com not only are strawberries awesome for your dog they also contain an enzyme that help whiten their teeth. Awesome, right? My pups absolutely loved their dog biscuits and the popsicles are a perfect treat on a hot summers day. However, these treats should be given in moderation.

I have recently discover the incredible awesomeness that is Erin Condren. I have always been a planner person, ever since middle school. I love having things laid out for me. It keeps me organized and that in turn keeps me happy. However once I graduated I stopped using planner because most are geared towards school. One day on Pinterest I discovered home management binders, and while I wasn’t entirely thrilled with how they were laid out I set about making one. I used it but it was so bulky, I couldn’t carry it around with me the way I needed to. Then I discovered Life Planners. Holy crap. Where have these been all my life?! They are so beautiful and customizable. I have gone planner crazy! I am addicted. Erin Condren’s Life Planners are amazing! They are so customizable and versatile. They fit almost any lifestyle or job. They are beautifully laid out and have tons of accessories and stickers to decorate to your hearts content.
I found some awesome deals on washi tape and stickers to decorate my planner. They were all 50 cents a piece! Wow it doesn’t get better than that! They match perfectly with April’s color scheme.
Also I recieved some happy mail Friday to go in my planner, my very first RAK. A wonder group of ladies started a RAK (random acts of kindness) group on facebook geared towards these planners. If you would like to check it out just search “We love ec RAK.”
Also that is my mini schnauzer Athena photobombing the first picture.
Lemon essential oil is a jack of all trades oil. It is great used on your skin, in your drinks or food, or as a cleaner. Most of Young Living’s starter kits come with lemon essential oil because it is so popular and capable of being used in many diverse ways. However Young Living’s oil is the only one I would ever ingest or use topically. Thanks to their “Seed to Seal” guarantee I can trust that I know exactly what I am getting. What is “Seed to Seal”? Well in the words of Young Living it is this, “At Young Living we take our stewardship of the planet and its inhabitants very seriously. We diligently scrutinize every step of our production process to bring you the purest products earth has to offer. We call it…Seed to Seal. It’s not a slogan—it’s our calling.” This is exactly why I chose to be a Young Living distributor over other essential oil companies. Now lets get on to the many uses of lemon oil.
- Adhesive Removal- use 1-2 drops to remove any adhesive left behind such as glue, bandaids, or crayons.
- Degreaser- mix with liquid soap to remove grease and oil stains
- Carpet Cleaner- 10-15 drops in a gallon of water in a steamer or carpet cleaner works wonders for your carpet. Make sure you spot test it first.
- All purpose cleaner- Mix 5-6 drops of oil with 1-2 cups water in a glass spray bottle. For extra cleaning power add 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar.
- Polish furniture- Mix one third cup apple cider vinegar and two third cups olive oil, mix well and then add 3 drops of lemon oil. Shake before each use.
- Detox water- Add 1-2 drops to water to kickstart your metabolism and help flush toxins from your body.
- Clear skin- Add a few drops to your favorite moisturizer for clear skin and a bright complexion. Avoid sunlight for 24 hours afterwards because lemon oil is light sensitive.
- Fruit and Veggie wash- Add 2-3 drops to a sink full of water to remove waxy residue and to help fruit last longer.
- Air freshener- Add 5-6 drops oil to 2 cups of water. Spray throughout your house for a fresh, clean scent that helps to neutralize odors.
- Sanitize dishwasher or garbage disposal- Add 1-2 drops to your garbage disposal and wait 1 minute. Flush with warm water. Add 1-2 drops to detergent container to sanitize your washer.
- Freshen laundry- Ever forget a load of clothes in the washer? Add a few drops to your laundry and it will freshen and brighten them.
- Bug Repellent- 5-6 drops in 2 cups water. Spray anywhere you don’t want bugs.
- Cooking- 7-8 drops of lemon oil equals 1 lemon.
- Soft scrub cleaner- add a few drops of lemon to baking soda to make your own soft scrub cleaner.
- Facial- Pamper yourself with this lemony facial. Mix 2-3 drops lemon with 1 tablespoon baking soda. Exfoliate. Rinse and put on your favorite moisturizer. It brightens your face and leaves your complexion nice and clear. Avoid sunlight 24 hours after applying as lemon is sunlight sensitive.
- Disinfect a cutting board- Rub 2-3 drops on the board and then let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse with hot water and a gentle soap.
- Make instant yummy lemonade for one or two people without the hassle of squeezing lemons or making it with the nasty artificial powder.
- Uplifting Body Scrub- Mix 3 drops oil with 1 cup sugar.
- Removes those hard to get rid of dry erase marker marks and stains.
Do you have a favorite way to use lemon? If so leave it in the comments, I would love to hear your ideas!

This is an amazing deal and includes some of the most used oils. That can be used for a variety of things. I will discuss the best uses of each oil in this kit in the next few blog posts so stay tuned! I decided to diffuse a recipe I call Allergy Buster. You simply put 2 drops each of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint into your diffuser. I can tell a major difference with just one time. My nose is not stopped up and I can actually breathe. I can feel my sinuses draining, as yucky as that sounds, already. I am not going to lie, I was a bit wary of these oils. Surely they would not make that big a difference. I was WRONG! I am so excited to try different blends and some lotion recipes I found on pinterest. I will post more about these very soon as I get all the ingredients.
I signed as a wholesale member because the benefits are to amazing not to! You automatically get 24% off, the essential rewards program, and the benefits of having people sign up under you are great!

I am contemplating selling either DoTerra or Young living essential oils. I think there will be a pretty good market for it here in my hometown and to places we travel. I always feel guilty not having a job but my husband and I both decided we would rather travel together than me stay at home and have a job, and be seperated most of the year. It just doesn’t work for us. I am also going to be making baby blankets and other things to sell on Etsy. I love to sew, and I think its time I put that skill to use. I am excited to see how it goes. I have a great group of pipeline wives to support me in my endeavors, and for that I am so thankful.
We are getting ready to head to Texas soon for my husband’s inspector class. We have been home for 2 months now and I am more than ready to get back on the road. Getting ready to go back on the road is a process. I have been organizing and cleaning the camper this week. I am so excited to head south for the winter but I feel guilty also. My sister is due in soon and I am not sure if I will be able to make it home in time for the birth of my niece. I am having her a baby shower before I go, but I know if I miss her birth I will never hear the end of it. My family always begs me to stay home. I have missed a few major events in my family and friends life, and they make me feel so guilty for it. It really bothers me a lot to have it thrown in my face.
I just wish they understood that my place is with my husband. That may be a bit old fashioned but it is the way my husband and I feel. I will always put my husband first, and he always puts me first. I take extreme joy in taking care of him. I like having the laundry done, the house cleaned, his lunch fixed and supper waiting when he gets home. I am so glad to have met fellow pipeline ladies who feel the same way and know exactly what I am going through. Social media has provided me a great way to meet other wives and vent. They understand this life more than my friends at home do. Most of the time I feel like I can’t really talk about this life with my friends. They think I just live one big vacation and that my husband makes tons of money for me to spend. They couldn’t be farther from the truth. They don’t understand the hardship that comes with this lifestyle.
